Exams in this category scheduled in the next 6 months.
Focus on basic mathematics (simplification, percentages, averages) and general intelligence — together they carry 55 of the 100 marks in NTPC CBT-1.
For General Awareness, memorise railway-specific static GK (zones, headquarters, important trains, railway ministers) — 2-4 questions come from this every paper.
Practice typing and reading regional language questions if you're appearing in a language other than English; the question quality can vary across translations.
For ALP and Technician posts, solve chapter-wise previous year papers from 2018-2019 for CBT-1 — the syllabus has stayed remarkably stable.
Attempt at least one full mock in the exam's 90-minute window each week; stamina matters more than speed for the long Railways paper.
RRB NTPC: 18-30 for graduate-level posts and 18-33 for undergraduate-level posts. RRB Group D: 18-33 years. Standard age relaxation applies for reserved categories.
RRB exams are conducted in 15 languages including English, Hindi, Urdu, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Konkani, Malayalam, Manipuri, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil and Telugu. Candidates choose their preferred language at registration.
Yes. One-third of a mark (approximately 0.33) is deducted for each wrong answer in both CBT-1 and CBT-2 of NTPC, ALP and Group D exams.
Physical Efficiency Test is mandatory for Group D and some NTPC posts like Commercial Apprentice. It tests running, lifting and carrying weight thresholds and is qualifying in nature.
Historically 12-24 months from notification to final joining, though the 2020-2022 NTPC cycle took longer due to the pandemic. Expect 6-9 months between CBT-1 and CBT-2 results.
